About The Position
Independence Rehab is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to work with older adults at The Residency and its geriatric clinics in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The role supports residents recovering from illness or injury, managing chronic conditions, or navigating life transitions, with a focus on mobility, confidence, dignity, and functional independence. The position is full-time, with flexible scheduling, and is part of a small, therapist-owned company that operates therapy services independently. The PTA treats a medically complex geriatric population and provides relationship-driven, collaborative care. Work includes guiding residents through mobility milestones, leading gait, balance, strengthening, and functional training, reducing fall risk, and collaborating with a physical therapist and other disciplines. Independence Rehab offers structured onboarding, individualized mentorship, documentation and treatment training, and ongoing clinical support. New graduates are welcome.
Requirements
- Active Nebraska PTA license in good standing.
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
- Interest in geriatric care and functional outcomes.
Nice To Haves
- Skilled nursing facility (SNF) experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Guide residents through mobility milestones, including first steps, safe transfers, and returning home.
- Lead gait, balance, strengthening, and functional training sessions.
- Help reduce fall risk and build residents’ confidence with daily activities.
- Collaborate with the physical therapist to adjust care plans.
- Work alongside nursing, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to support whole-person recovery.
- Provide therapy to a medically complex geriatric population, using clinical reasoning and compassion.
- Participate in structured onboarding, training, and ongoing clinical support.
