About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking a Phlebotomist Lab Assistant I in Lafayette, Indiana. The position provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic specimen processing, and related clerical tasks. The incumbent may also handle patient and specimen registration and specimen delivery. The laboratories operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and perform more than 19 million tests annually.

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Telephone skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.
• May require a valid Indiana operator’s license and a good driving history for the last three years.
• May require an understanding of Indiana traffic laws.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in a laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science is preferred.
