About The Position

Indiana University Health is hiring a Phlebotomist Lab Assistant I to support phlebotomy operations across multiple East Central Indiana locations, primarily IU Health Jay, IU Health Blackford, and IU Health Upland, and occasionally IU Health locations in Muncie. The role provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic specimen processing, and related clerical tasks. The incumbent may also be responsible for patient and specimen registration and specimen delivery. The position is full-time, day shift.

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Telephone skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.
• May require a valid Indiana operator’s license and a good driving history for the last three years.
• May require an understanding of Indiana traffic laws.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in a laboratory, or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science.

Responsibilities

• Support phlebotomy operations across multiple East Central Indiana locations.
• Collect specimens, enter orders, prepare blood components, and perform pre-analytic specimen processing.
• Perform related clerical tasks.
• Register patients and specimens, and deliver specimens when required.
• May serve on appropriate committees or projects that contribute to the department’s purpose and essential functions.
