About The Position

Omnicare is a provider of pharmacy services to long-term care facilities, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and chronic care settings. Following its sale by CVS Health, Omnicare will continue as an independent, standalone organization, and the person hired for this position will be employed by Omnicare. As a Front End Pharmacy Technician, you will perform order-entry tasks and collaborate with team members in the medication dispensing process at a closed-door pharmacy. The front-end team enters orders, works with pharmacists to help ensure accuracy, and provides customer service. The role also involves triaging customer requests, checking prescription dosages, helping track narcotic prescriptions, sharing computer-flagged safety information with dispensing pharmacists, and maintaining accurate customer records. The pharmacy is not open to the public, and colleagues work in a supportive environment serving customers in long-term care settings.

Requirements

Certification, licensure, or registration as a pharmacy technician, or as required by state law.
At least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician.
Verifiable high school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in the long-term care industry.
PTCB National Certification.

Responsibilities

Perform order-entry tasks and collaborate with team members in the medication dispensing process.
Triage customer service requests by department, urgency, and the information or response required.
Calculate and/or verify correct dosage based on prescriptions.
Assist in reviewing that narcotic prescriptions are returned in a timely manner.
Provide the dispensing pharmacist with information about allergies, drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, and other items flagged by the computer.
Create and maintain accurate customer records.
