About The Position

Corpus Christi Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a per diem Pharmacy Technician to join its patient-care team in Corpus Christi, Texas. The hospital provides inpatient rehabilitation for patients recovering from disabling medical events, including strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, major orthopedic injuries, and medically complex illnesses. Its rehabilitation team provides personalized physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy operations by handling and measuring medications, assisting with drug pricing and restocking, and managing prescription information in the computer system. The technician refers physicians' calls and medical questions to the pharmacist and incorporates the hospital’s mission and Guiding Principles into daily practice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, unless registered by the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
• General computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection-control standards.
• Ability to use concepts of age and developmental stages in interactions with patients and families.

Nice To Haves

• Current state certification and registration with the Board of Pharmacy.
• Hospital experience.
• National certification (PTCB).

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, count, and measure drugs.
• Assist the pharmacist with price-checking and restocking drugs.
• Access, input, and retrieve prescription information from the computer.
