About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital Richmond is seeking a per-diem Pharmacy Technician for its critical illness recovery hospital in Richmond, Virginia. The hospital provides inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Pharmacy Technician completes pharmacy tasks and services and is responsible for daily pharmacy operations within established policies and guidelines. The role works under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and may work independently. It does not involve direct patient care. Compensation is $27.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification, unless required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Complete pharmacy tasks and services and manage daily pharmacy operations within established policies and guidelines.
• Pick up drug orders at nursing stations and prepare medications under the supervision of the pharmacist on shift.
• Deliver appropriate medication quantities to the correct patient areas.
• Assist with accurate billing and crediting of patient medications.
• Maintain pharmacy drugs in accordance with the Drug Formulary, including ordering, receiving, storing, and completing necessary paperwork.
• Monitor doses administered against the Medication Administration Record on the narcotics sign-out record.
• Maintain forms and reports required to control narcotics and other controlled substances.
