About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital Hampton Roads is seeking a per diem Pharmacy Technician in Newport News, Virginia. The technician performs pharmacy tasks and services and is responsible for the pharmacy’s daily operations within established policies and guidelines. The role works under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and may work independently. It does not involve direct patient care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification, unless required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Pick up drug orders at nursing stations and prepare medications under the supervision of the pharmacist on shift.
• Deliver appropriate quantities of medication to the correct patient areas.
• Assist with accurate billing and crediting of patient medications.
• Maintain pharmacy drugs in accordance with the Drug Formulary, including ordering, receiving, storing, and completing necessary paperwork.
• Monitor doses administered according to the Medication Administration Record on the narcotics sign-out record.
• Maintain forms and reports necessary for controlling narcotics and other controlled substances.
