About The Position
The Pharmacy Tech provides efficient and courteous customer service in the pharmacy. The role handles customer questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgment, receives prescriptions and refill requests, gathers and records information needed to prepare prescriptions, enters data into the computer, and stores prescription forms after dispensing. The Pharmacy Tech also stocks over-the-counter products and pharmacy supplies, places completed prescriptions in the pick-up area, assists with insurance claims and payment verification, helps customers locate over-the-counter products, maintains a clean work area, and operates the cash register. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide and promote efficient and courteous service to customers.
- Answer telephone calls and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgment.
- Receive written prescriptions and telephone refill requests.
- Gather information needed to prepare prescriptions and record information needed before dispensing.
- Store written prescription forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
- Enter data into the computer.
- Stock over-the-counter products and pharmacy department supplies.
- Place completed prescriptions in the pick-up area.
- Assist in preparing insurance claims and verify payments.
- Help customers find over-the-counter products.
- Maintain a clean department and work area.
- Operate the cash register.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
