About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech provides efficient and courteous service to customers. The role handles routine customer questions, receives prescriptions and refill requests, gathers and records information needed for prescription preparation and dispensing, and helps with pharmacy operations, including stocking products, preparing insurance claims, and operating a cash register. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide and promote efficient and courteous service to customers.
• Answer telephone calls and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgment.
• Receive written prescriptions and telephone refill requests.
• Gather information needed to prepare prescriptions and record information required before prescriptions can be dispensed.
• Store written prescription forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
• Enter data into the computer.
• Stock over-the-counter products and help customers find them.
• Place completed prescriptions in the pick-up area.
• Assist in preparing insurance claims and verifying payments.
• Maintain a clean department and work area.
• Assist in maintaining and stocking pharmacy department supplies.
• Operate the cash register.
• Perform additional job duties as needed.
