About The Position

The Pharmacy Advocate Technician works in the Inpatient Pharmacy at Ascension St. Vincent's Clay County Hospital in Middleburg, Florida. The technician performs specialized pharmacy duties, which may include hazardous drug compounding, medication history, nuclear pharmacy, and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) work. The role supports pharmacists with patient education and may include giving immunizations in accordance with state laws. The technician may also serve as a pharmacist extender, monitor regulatory compliance, and manage and optimize inventory and drug shortages.

Requirements

• Hold at least one of the following credentials before the hire or job transfer date: Registered Pharmacy Tech credential from the Florida Board of Pharmacy, or Pharmacy Tech credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
• Meet one of the following education and experience pathways: high school diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience; an associate's or technical degree; or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized pharmacy technician duties, such as hazardous drug compounding, medication history, nuclear pharmacy, and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) work.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing patient education materials.
• Give immunizations in accordance with state laws, as applicable.
• Serve as a pharmacist extender in situations such as Caregiver Model of the Future responsibilities.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory standards, as applicable.
• Manage and optimize inventory and drug shortages, as applicable.
