About The Position

The Grand Rapids Kroc Center is seeking a Personal Trainer to provide personalized fitness services to members. This role involves building relationships with members, assisting them in achieving their fitness and wellness goals, and ensuring a positive and safe fitness environment. The Personal Trainer will also be responsible for teaching classes, performing fitness assessments, and upholding the operational policies of the Kroc Center.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have personal training certification by a national accredited organization such as ACSM, NSCA, ACE or AFAA.
  • Able to design high-quality, up-to-date, scientifically sound, safe and effective fitness programs for a variety of member goals and needs.
  • Be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Able to function effectively with minimal or no supervision.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint.
  • Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification or obtain within 45 days.
  • Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Degree in fitness, exercise science, athletic training, physical therapy, exercise physiology or other related areas is preferred.
  • Prior personal training experience is preferred.
  • Preferred ability to communicate in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal training to members who purchase additional services.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members, clients, and the community.
  • Build relationships with members and assist them in meeting their fitness and wellness goals.
  • Provide orientation for new members.
  • Perform fitness assessments.
  • Provide follow-up to personal training customers.
  • Teach a variety of classes based on experience and specialties.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, staff, and supervisors regarding concerns, schedules, and feedback.
  • Implement safety measures for personal training services to ensure the health and safety of members.
  • Assist members during workouts with proper use of equipment, proper form, and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure the fitness area is presentable by assisting with cleaning and maintenance.
  • Report all equipment, fitness, and gym area problems to the Health and Wellness Manager.
  • Enforce all rules that pertain to the fitness and exercise areas consistently.
  • Adhere to RJKCCC operations and all policy procedures.
  • Provide supervision when the Health and Wellness Manager is not on site.
  • Work at least 2 shifts per week.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
