About The Position

The Perishable Clerk receives, inspects, rotates, wraps, labels, and merchandises fresh and processed meats and assists with seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses. The role helps Members by answering questions and recommending products, while maintaining product quality, inventory rotation, department cleanliness, and safety standards. Team Members are expected to follow club policies and procedures, work collaboratively, deliver friendly and reliable Member service, and help maintain the club’s GOLD standards.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with fresh and processed meats.
• Knowledge of automatic or hand wrapping machines.
• Prior experience working in a meat and/or deli department.

Responsibilities

• Answer Member questions about meats, poultry, and seafood and recommend products when appropriate.
• Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood, including grinds.
• Assist the meat cutter with packaging freshly cut meats and seafood; may grind hamburger meat.
• Inspect meat deliveries, store products, and ensure delivered meat meets or exceeds company quality standards.
• Keep meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese cases fully stocked.
• Rotate meats, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses according to expiration dates.
• Dispose of damaged or expired products according to established guidelines.
• Receive and unpack meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in the meat cooler and freezer.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, display fixtures, and department areas, including the meat cooler, freezer, and refrigerated display cases.
• Follow club policies and procedures and maintain department cleaning and safety standards.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Deliver friendly service, address Member concerns, and help provide a safe and positive environment.
• Work as a team to maintain club standards, stock items, execute promotional plans, keep signage accurate, and maintain clean and organized areas.
