About The Position

The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) is a network of more than 600 community-based organizations dedicated to creating opportunities for all Americans to build wealth and live well. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Washington, DC, NCRC works with community leaders, policymakers, and financial institutions to champion fairness in banking, housing, and business. NCRC is seeking a motivated and mission-aligned People & Culture / Operations Intern to support day-to-day Human Resources operations and several high-impact special projects. This is a hands-on opportunity for a student passionate about people operations, organizational effectiveness, and the nonprofit sector.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field
  • Commitment to NCRC's mission of building a just and equitable economy
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Discretion when handling confidential employee and organizational information
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HRIS, ATS platforms, or nonprofit operations is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, and coordinate staff training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs
  • Support logistics, vendor communication, timeline tracking, and internal communications for the office move
  • Assist with job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and applicant tracking system (ATS) maintenance
  • Research salary benchmarks, compile compensation data, and help prepare summary reports for leadership
  • Maintain and update employee records and HR databases with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for staff
  • Assist with culture and engagement initiatives, including staff events and recognition programs
  • Help draft internal communications, HR policies, and organizational presentations
  • Provide general administrative support to the People & Culture and Operations team
