This position is responsible for acting as a peer support to clients in recovery. The Peer Supporter is an individual with a direct lived experience of a mental health and/or substance use disorder who are in recovery. In Ohio, the definition of recovery is: The personal process of change in which Ohio residents strive to improve their health and wellness, resiliency, and reach their full potential through self-directed actions. ACT is a service-delivery model that provides comprehensive, locally based treatment to people with serious and persistent mental illnesses. The program provides service recipients with multidisciplinary, round-the-clock staffing of a psychiatric unit, but within the comfort of their own home and community. ACT team members are trained in the areas of psychiatry, social work, nursing, substance abuse, and vocational rehabilitation.
