About The Position

Inova L.J. Children’s Hospital is looking for a dedicated Pediatric Neurology APP to join the team. This role will be full-time and is eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. The Inova Children's Neuroscience Program is uniquely qualified to evaluate and treat neurological conditions from birth through adolescence. It combines the expertise of Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital with the specialty knowledge of Inova Neurosciences, featuring a full complement of board-certified specialists covering all aspects of inpatient and outpatient care, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term follow-up. The program's foundation of care excellence is built upon the combined specialized expertise of Inova Children's pediatric neurologists, pediatric neurosurgeons, pediatric critical care physicians, pediatric hematologist/oncologists, pediatric neuropsychologists, and pediatric psychiatrists. Beyond clinical care, extensive ancillary services and programs support children and families throughout their experience, including Child Life specialists, social workers, physical, occupational, and speech therapists, nutritionists, and support groups. Requirements

  • Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing. For Physician Assistants, graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • No experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and (PALS) upon start
  • Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
  • Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
  • Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage pediatric patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Perform comprehensive neurological assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications in accordance with state regulations and clinical guidelines.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding neurological conditions, treatment plans, and disease management.
  • Collaborate with pediatric neurologists and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive, family-centered care.
  • Document clinical encounters accurately and maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and professional development activities.
