About The Position

Champion Home Builders, Inc. is seeking to hire an experienced Payroll-HR Assistant to join their team in Athens, Texas. This role is responsible for processing payroll and maintaining related records, as well as supporting all phases of human resources activities. Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years payroll / HR department experience
  • Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work in a team manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with payroll software (UltiPro/UKG) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll information by compiling, calculating, and inputting weekly payroll data.
  • Enter data into computer files.
  • Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, 401K, and other benefit deductions for each employee to update master payroll records.
  • Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions as required.
  • Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
  • Prepare and issue paychecks as needed.
  • Record and update employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.
  • Process employment applications and assist in other employment activities.
  • Track and keep record of vacation accrual.
  • Oversee annual benefit renewals, benefit rollouts and open enrollment process.
  • Handle onboarding of all new hires and ensure all necessary new-hire paperwork is completed and received.
  • Responsible for Workers Comp administration and maintaining records of work-related accidents and injuries.
  • Serve as the go-to person for employees regarding HR matters.
