About The Position

The Payments Analyst processes payments and ACH transactions and provides debit card support, including dispute processing. The role investigates debit card errors reported by cardholders, which may involve researching bank-system data, contacting merchants, creating general ledger entries, preparing and mailing letters, and complying with Regulation E, Visa, and suspicious activity reporting requirements. The position also processes charge-backs, merchant re-presentments, and ACH disputes, and supports associates and cardholders with debit card questions and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Intermediate customer service skills.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic problem-solving skills.
• Basic organizational skills.
• Basic understanding of debits, credits, and general ledger accounts.
• Basic banking knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) rules.
• Basic knowledge of Regulation E (Reg E) and Regulation Z rules and procedures.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop; sit at a desk for long periods and use a computer; and occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds.
• Limited travel may be required occasionally during and after business hours.
• May be asked to work supplemental hours periodically.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile debit card transactions.
• Resolve debit card posting exceptions.
• Process debit card disputes.
• Analyze and track disputes reported by cardholders, researching transactions, contacting merchants, creating general ledger entries, preparing and mailing letters, and following applicable compliance requirements.
• Process charge-backs and merchants’ re-presentments.
• Process ACH disputes.
• Replace compromised cards and identify inactive cards for possible closure.
• Assist associates and cardholders with debit card support, including disputes and troubleshooting.
