PATIENT TRANSPORTER (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Patient Transporter facilitates internal hospital patient moves and is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations. The role uses wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock and requires attention to patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. The position is at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. It is full time, with all shifts available and hours and days that may vary; further schedule details are provided during the interview. The employer is willing to train. Prior customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, secure patients, and secure IVs, drainage tubes, and related equipment.
- Use wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to transport patients.
- Demonstrate competency in transporting all specific age groups.
- Transport patients to the correct destination safely, accurately, and on time using the requested equipment.
- Communicate effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, reception, and dispatch.
- Attend to patient comfort by offering blankets, checking modesty, and engaging only in appropriate conversation; do not transport patients in severe pain.
- Immediately alert nursing staff to signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
- Maintain equipment and report equipment that needs repair.
- Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO requirements.
- Follow facility confidentiality and patient-rights policies as outlined in HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
