About The Position

The Patient Transporter safely moves patients throughout the facility, including to and from diagnostic testing, treatment areas, and discharge locations. The role ensures patient comfort, safety, dignity, and confidentiality during transport and communicates effectively with healthcare teams to facilitate patient care. The Patient Transporter also supports patient care by maintaining clean transport equipment and assisting with the movement of medical equipment, supplies, and documents.

Requirements

• 0–1 years of experience in a healthcare or patient support role required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and provide compassionate care.
• Basic knowledge of patient transport safety techniques and infection control measures.
• Physical stamina to lift, move, and transport patients safely.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) must be completed by the end of the orientation period.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely between departments while maintaining their comfort and dignity.
• Assists patients in and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, using proper lifting techniques and equipment to prevent injury.
• Communicates with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers to coordinate and prioritize transport needs.
• Keeps transport equipment clean and sanitized and follows infection control protocols.
• Follows patient handling and transport safety guidelines and promptly reports concerns or incidents.
• Assists with moving medical equipment, supplies, and documents as needed to support patient care.
• Provides customer service, reassurance, and support to patients and families during transport.
• Accurately documents transport activities in logs or electronic systems as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
