The Patient Services Rep greets patients and guests using AIDET and provides individualized, excellent service. The role supports patients, keeps them informed about delays, and takes appropriate action, including offering alternatives. It performs patient registration and updates or validates demographic, identification, and insurance information; completes verification and obtains signatures; and conducts and documents patient outreach through front-desk messages, MyChart, and confirmation calls. The representative uses kiosks, tablets, and other technology to assist patients on arrival; makes appointments, including follow-up appointments; collects copays and outstanding balances; and reconciles the cash drawer daily. The role also handles nonclinical administrative work such as in-basket and telephone communications, medical-record documentation and retrieval, insurance or disability forms, precertifications, authorizations, referrals, work queues, and transcription of radiology or scheduling orders. The position requires flexibility and multitasking in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adjust to patient volume. It includes standing and walking for two to eight hours per assigned shift, depending on location. The representative fulfills organizational responsibilities, respects and promotes patient rights, responds appropriately to emergencies, works effectively with patients and multidisciplinary team members, and adheres to the organization’s mission, values, ethical conduct, and applicable regulatory standards. Other duties may be assigned by the manager.
