About The Position

As a Patient Services Representative with Corewell Health, you will provide registration, concierge, and clerical services as part of a team, helping deliver healthcare services to patients. The role includes complex patient and customer problem solving, administrative support, insurance authorization and denial assistance, and complex electronic medical record document handling. You may also help train new team members and perform the Patient Services Representative, Associate role when needed. The position is full time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no weekends, and is based at the Care Center in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of relevant experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support, or another related field.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex patient and customer problems, using high-level discernment when registering patients in treatment rooms.
• Perform administrative functions, including patient check-out; scheduling appointments, referrals, in-office procedures, surgeries, and tests; reviewing medical records for incoming referrals; maintaining and modifying provider templates; navigating external patient referral portals; and reconciling multidepartment deposits.
• Obtain insurance authorizations or verify prior authorization, and assist with retroactive insurance denials and appeals.
• Perform complex EMR/EHR scanning and use Right Fax to fax and upload documents to EPIC.
• Assist with training new team members using standard work.
• Perform the Patient Services Representative, Associate role when necessary.
• Participate in safety initiatives and risk-mitigation measures, and complete position- and unit-related safety competencies and requirements on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
