About The Position

Southcoast Health is a not-for-profit health system serving Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The Patient Services Ambassador (Dietary Aide) helps ensure customer and patient satisfaction by supporting patient meal selection and dietary menu needs. This position is based at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and is scheduled for 24 flex to 32 hours per week, with a day shift from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and weekend and holiday rotation. Pay is based on experience and ranges from $16.64 to $23.57 per hour. The position reports to the Manager Patient Services or designee. Regular-status employees scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours may be eligible for the listed benefits.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, plus additional courses or training, or equivalent knowledge or experience preferred.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or, after hiring, sign a statement choosing an exemption for medical or personal reasons.

Responsibilities

Help ensure customer and patient satisfaction by performing a variety of duties.
Ensure, as directed, that patient meal selections are obtained as close to mealtime as possible.
Adjust meal selections to accommodate diet restrictions with the patient.
Update and correct patient-selected menus only with the patient’s knowledge.
Use the menu correction guide and consult the assigned dietitian as a resource to avoid serious menu-correction errors.
Describe the ingredients and features of all menu items.
Enter patient food preferences into the Patient Services Software Platform.
Use the EPIC Platform as needed or directed.
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
