About The Position

As part of Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital, the Bath Health and Wellness Center provides primary care and specialty services to the surrounding community. The Patient Service Specialist helps create an exceptional experience for patients, families, and visitors from arrival through checkout. Duties include welcoming and checking in patients, collecting co-pays, preparing for visits, assisting with kiosk use, supporting scheduling and pre-registration, and helping patients enroll in MyChart. The specialist partners with physicians to support a smooth and efficient checkout process.

This is a full-time, day-shift role, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:14 p.m. Weekends and holidays are not required. Caregivers follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance processing, or customer service; or an associate degree and one year of experience; or a bachelor's degree.
• Working knowledge of PC window applications.
• Ability to perform basic math sufficient to process insurance co-pays.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute or personal computer keyboard skills.
• Epic experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive, proactive, Patients First experience for patients and visitors.
• Investigate, triage, and resolve patient issues using the established HEART model.
• Create a welcoming and professional environment and support positive patient experiences.
• Perform patient registration, visit preparation, telephone triage, insurance verification, co-pay collection, patient and record tracking, scheduling, arrival and departure desk activities, and interpreter-service screening and scheduling.
• Enter and maintain confidential patient information.
• Recruit, enroll, and educate patients on MyChart and Appointment Pass.
• Assist patients with kiosk use, scheduling, pre-registration, and MyChart enrollment.
• Partner with physicians to support an efficient checkout process.
