About The Position

A Patient Service Specialist II at Scotland Memorial Hospital - Family Medicine is responsible for accurately completing patient registrations in EPIC, verifying and updating patient demographics, screening for insurance eligibility, and handling self-pay applications. This role also involves performing patient reminder calls, assisting with phone inquiries, scheduling appointments, and generating no-show letters. Additionally, the specialist collects copayments and coinsurance, and completes daily deposit and reconciliation procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately completes EPIC registration for each patient, including verifying and updating demographics.
  • Screens for insurance eligibility and scans correct insurance cards.
  • Offers Self-Pay (SPN) Sliding Fee application and ensures acknowledgement is signed for self-pay patients.
  • Ensures E-sign Consent for treatment and insurance authorization is completed if due.
  • Follows Standard Work for Patient Appointment arrival.
  • Performs Patient reminder calls.
  • Daily reviews requests to cancel or reschedule appointments.
  • Handles live calls for appointment reminders with a goal of decreasing unused appointment slots.
  • Greets patients and answers phones in a kind, courteous tone.
  • Assists patients with scheduling and rescheduling appointments.
  • Creates inbox messages as needed to assist patients, including refill requests.
  • Demonstrates competence in identifying RED words.
  • Schedules appointments for walk-ins.
  • Generates no-show letters through EPIC.
  • Collects copayments and coinsurance as applicable at Check out or Check in.
  • Completes standard work for daily deposit and reconciliation.
