About The Position

Putnam County Hospital is looking for a temporary full-time Patient Service Representative to join the Occupational Health Team at the Putnam County YMCA office. This position is temporarily full-time for approximately 6 weeks with the option to stay on in the PRN Float Pool after the temporary coverage timeline ends. Greets patients, organizes patient files, and moves patients through a pre-determined schedule of appointments at a physician's office.

Requirements

HS Graduate or Equivalent

Responsibilities

Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members
Efficiently conducts check-in, check-out, and rescheduling procedures
Verifies insurance coverage
Collect copays and balances at time of appointment
Answers, triages, and appropriately routes incoming calls
Explains office policies, insurance coverage, and services available to patients
Schedules appointments for the physicians and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms. Prepares a daily schedule of examinations for each provider
Accurately enters all patient demographic, billing, and insurance information in the Electronic Medical Record (AllScripts)
Receives, reviews, and distributes documentation to appropriate staff members in a timely manner
Reviews patient schedule for following day and verifies all necessary paperwork is on file. Follows up with patients for any missing documentation
Follows established protocols for opening and closing office
Performs other duties as assigned
