About The Position

The Patient Service Representative supports the service area by checking patients in and out of appointments and consistently demonstrating exemplary customer service when assisting patients and guests. The role reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values, adheres to its Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. The position is based in Ortho Warrenville and is listed as casual days. Patient Service Representatives in Immediate Care Clinics may float to other ICCs or departments. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Zero to two years of experience in a customer service position.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Bilingual.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and guests, confirm patient identity, and provide information related to their visit.
Complete check-in and check-out functions as directed.
Confirm and update patient identification, demographic, and insurance information.
Complete patient registration as needed.
Obtain patient consents and authorizations.
Collect co-payments, past-due balances, and point-of-service payments.
Post payments, process billing information, and perform end-of-day cash drawer closing.
Keep the waiting area clean and comfortable.
Inform patients of appointment delays or changes in appointment status.
Schedule appointments as necessary.
For Patient Service Representatives in Immediate Care Clinics, float to other ICCs or departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
