About The Position

The Patient Service Representative is responsible for the patient check-in process, updating patients’ personal and insurance information in the computer system, handling a multi-line phone system, maintaining and filing medical records, and collecting co-pays and cash payments. The role supports daily clinic operations and patient service in a fast-paced environment at the Plymouth, Michigan clinic.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Proficiency in basic computer functions.
Ability to learn new software quickly.
Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Attention to detail.
Ability to multitask, prioritize appropriately, and work well individually and as part of a team.
Ability to respond positively to constructive feedback and direction from supervisors.
Professional appearance and manner at all times.
Friendly, cheerful, tactful, and polite demeanor, with compassion and care when dealing with others.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of recent medical office experience or experience in a similar capacity.
Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.

Responsibilities

Perform opening and closing clinic duties.
Greet patients, check them in for appointments, and verify insurance.
Scan documents into the electronic health record.
Keep the waiting area and reception counter tidy throughout the day.
Check schedules for added, canceled, and no-show appointments throughout the day.
Schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
Respond to designated tasks in the electronic health record.
Order clinic office supplies.
Sell and track cosmetic products.
Distribute mail.
Prepare for the next day’s scheduled appointments.
Update patient personal and insurance information.
Handle a multi-line phone system.
File and maintain medical records.
Collect co-pays and cash payments.
