About The Position

Esse Health is hiring a full-time Patient Service Representative for its Mason Road Pediatrics office in Town & Country, Missouri. The role is based in an outpatient clinical practice and involves frequent, visible interaction with patients. The representative is expected to project a positive office image, welcome patients warmly, and maintain an upbeat, positive attitude with patients and coworkers.

The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with rotating coverage of a Saturday morning shift. There are no nights or holidays. The position is benefit eligible and may include a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• Formal training, probably indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of health insurance plan types, such as HMOs and PPOs.
• PC/Windows proficiency.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.
• Willingness to prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient check-in and check-out.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Collect co-payments.
• Verify insurance.
• Register patients and update patient demographics.
• Answer the telephone.
• Assist with referrals.
• Balance monies at the end of the day.
• May enter physician-related charges into the computer.
• May bill hospital or nursing home charges.
• Maintain a positive, welcoming attitude in interactions with patients and coworkers.
