About The Position

Esse Health is hiring a full-time Patient Service Representative for its St. Charles Complete Care outpatient clinical practice at 1551 Wall Street. The position is Monday through Friday, with no nights, weekends, or holidays. The representative interacts visibly with patients and is expected to project a positive office image through enthusiastic greetings, a smile, and an upbeat, positive attitude with patients and coworkers. This is a benefit-eligible position and is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• Formal training, likely indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of different types of health insurance plans, such as HMOs and PPOs.
• PC/Windows proficiency.
• Medical coding familiarity.
• Willingness to prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.
• Ability to maintain a positive, upbeat attitude and project a positive office image in interactions with patients and coworkers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with the public in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient check-in and check-out.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Collect co-payments.
• Verify insurance.
• Register patients and update patient demographics.
• Answer the telephone.
• Balance monies at the end of the day.
• Enter physician-related charges into the computer, as needed.
• Bill hospital or nursing-home charges, as needed.
