About The Position

Esse Health is seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative for its St. Charles Complete Care outpatient clinical practice at 1551 Wall Street. The role is a visible point of contact for patients and supports the office’s daily administrative and financial processes. The representative is expected to create a positive office experience through enthusiastic, courteous interactions with patients and coworkers. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with no nights, weekends, or holidays. The position is benefit eligible and eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• Formal training, probably indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of different types of health insurance plans, such as HMOs and PPOs.
• PC/Windows proficiency.
• Medical coding familiarity.
• Willingness to prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.
• Project a positive office image, including smiling, enthusiastically greeting patients, and maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude in interactions with patients and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient check-in and check-out.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Collect co-payments.
• Verify insurance.
• Register patients and update patient demographics.
• Answer the telephone.
• Balance monies at the end of the day.
• May enter physician-related charges into the computer.
• May bill hospital and nursing home charges.
