About The Position

This is an internal application for the Patient Service Representative (Phones/Referrals) position in the St. Charles Complete Care office. This is a full-time opening with no weekends or holidays, and the position is benefit eligible. The role involves answering incoming calls, asking pertinent questions related to patient symptoms and relaying this information to the provider, scheduling appointments, securing pre-authorizations, pre-certifications and referrals for patients requiring specialty care, making outbound calls to patients, working reports, and handling faxes.

Requirements

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
1 or more years of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMO’s, PPO’s, etc.
PC/Windows proficiency.
Willingness to assign high priority to patient comfort and satisfaction.
Ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.

Responsibilities

Answer incoming calls for the office
Ask pertinent questions related to patient symptoms and relay this information to the provider
Schedule appointments

Make outbound calls to patients

Handle faxes
