About The Position

The Patient Service Representative I provides friendly, rapid, and accurate patient support. The role includes completing patient registration documentation, scheduling appointments, and assisting with departmental projects and clerical duties. The representative also supports patient-facing financial, insurance, and administrative processes and prepares the next day’s work for scheduled patients.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of customer service experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to relate well to all customers.
Knowledge of healthcare terminology.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
Five years of healthcare office experience.
American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR AED course.

Responsibilities

Respond to customer needs in a timely and professional manner.
Answer telephone calls courteously and tactfully, direct calls, return messages to the appropriate party, and take complete and accurate messages.
Facilitate patient appointments and referrals in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
Obtain patients’ demographic and insurance information and enter it accurately into the patient management system.
Obtain required signatures on consents and distribute patient information and compliance literature.
Verify insurance eligibility using assigned tools and update patient account information as needed.
Prepare estimates of anticipated service prices before services are performed and communicate the information to patients.
Collect current and past-due patient responsibility balances before services are rendered.
Perform daily reconciliation, balancing, and cash-out procedures, and enter payments into the practice management system.
Prepare the next day’s work for all scheduled patients.
