The Patient Service Associate will be responsible for registering patients, updating insurance information, scheduling visits, and other duties as assigned to coordinate patient appointment scheduling. This role involves interacting with a diverse patient population and utilizing the electronic medical record to maintain patient records. The associate will also be knowledgeable with state and government agencies to provide proper consents for patients who are wards of the state and work with facilities to obtain proper consents from patient proxies. Additionally, they will be knowledgeable of and adhere to payer requirements for referrals and authorization within the scope of the specialty they are assigned, and schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and prior authorizations as needed. The role requires professional and timely communication with providers, patients, clinical care teams, and insurance companies, as well as answering incoming phone calls and directing them appropriately. The Patient Service Associate will also convey a professional image by adhering to the established dress code. Travel between Multispecialty offices is required. This position is responsible for the registration and scheduling process for complex patients, updating the system with registration, scheduling, and insurance information, and preparing patient disability and out-of-work/school paperwork. The associate will discuss financial obligations, explain regulatory forms, and answer related questions. They will work in multiple systems during patient-facing interactions and phone call receipts to complete accurate registration and support clinical workflow. Understanding the practice and hospital strategic plan, supporting plans, policies, procedures, and initiatives within their department's expectations and role, and representing AMC while supporting its ideals and principles are also key aspects of this role.
