About The Position

As a Patient Safety Attendant and Companion, you will provide supportive care to an assigned patient to help assure a safe environment for patients who may be deemed a potential safety risk. The role requires communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to organize assignments and work under pressure, and Basic Life Support Certification within the orientation period.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be listed on a Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Board of Nursing; if not listed, must obtain placement immediately following orientation and training by St. Alexius Medical Center, as stated in the policy “Eligibility for Employment as Nurse Assistant.”
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to organize assignments and work under pressure.
• Obtain Basic Life Support Certification within the orientation period and meet recertification requirements as required.

Nice To Haves

• Hospital experience.
• Aide experience.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients to ensure safety.
• Perform routine duties as directed by patient care staff within the scope of protocol.
• Seek assistance from patient care staff as the patient’s condition warrants.
• Report relevant information to the RN in charge of the patient.
• Provide diversional activities to the patient.
