Patient Registration Rep-Er

CommonSpirit Health•San Luis, CA

About The Position

The Patient Registration Representative ensures a positive patient experience during registration by providing excellent customer service. The role identifies patients, collects accurate demographic information, verifies insurance, determines and collects financial liability, and explains hospital policies and patient rights to patients and families. Accuracy and strong communication support patient satisfaction and appropriate reimbursement. The representative enters and corrects insurance, demographic, and financial information in the legacy ADT system at the time of service or during pre-registration or pre-admission. The role explains the Dignity Health Payment Assistance program and directs patients to further assistance when needed. It also identifies and obtains required patient or guarantor signatures, follows hospital credit-card handling procedures, and protects credit-card information as confidential. For assigned scheduled admissions and outpatient services above the facility’s defined dollar threshold, the representative verifies insurance benefits—when possible, at least three days before service—using electronic verification systems or by contacting payers, and documents the results accurately.
