About The Position

The Patient Reception Specialist provides patient support and communication and facilitates an exceptional patient experience to build satisfaction, trust, and organizational loyalty. The role welcomes and prepares patients for appointments, informs them of relevant visit information, and clearly explains the services they are scheduled to receive. The home location is 155 School Street, Tomball, TX 77375.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency required.
Adeptness in medical terminology and insurance practices.
Proficiency with computer programs and applications, including Outlook applications and practice EMR systems.
Competence in basic arithmetic, including making calculations, balancing and reconciling figures, and accurately making change.
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.

Nice To Haves

Current BLS certification for healthcare providers preferred.
Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or an emergency room preferred.

Responsibilities

Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, authorizations, referrals, and other required appointment documentation, and save them appropriately in the practice EMR.
Validate patient demographics and insurance, and inform patients of privacy policies and procedures.
Keep reception and patient waiting areas clean and organized.
Greet patients and visitors professionally and warmly.
Communicate unexpected schedule delays to patients and help maintain patient comfort when delays arise.
Collect patient co-payments, reconciliation charges, and outstanding balances at check-in, and submit batches daily.
Schedule patient appointments and follow-up appointments according to established policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
