About The Position

The Patient Reception Specialist provides patient support and communication to facilitate an exceptional patient experience and reinforce satisfaction, trust, and organizational loyalty. The role welcomes and prepares patients for appointments, provides relevant visit information, and clearly explains the services patients are scheduled to receive. The home location is 9055 Katy Fwy., Houston, TX 77024.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Adeptness in medical terminology and insurance practices.
Proficiency with computer programs and applications, including Outlook applications and practice EMR systems.
Competence in basic arithmetic, including making calculations, balancing and reconciling figures, and making changes accurately.
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.

Nice To Haves

Current BLS certification for healthcare providers preferred.
Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or an emergency room preferred.

Responsibilities

Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, authorizations, referrals, and other required appointment documentation, and save them appropriately in the practice EMR.
Validate patient demographic and insurance information and inform patients about privacy policies and procedures.
Keep reception and patient waiting areas clean and organized.
Greet patients and visitors professionally and warmly.
Communicate unexpected schedule delays effectively and support patient comfort when delays occur.
Collect patient co-payments, reconciliation charges, and outstanding balances at check-in, and submit batches daily.
Schedule patient and follow-up appointments according to established policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
