About The Position

Memorial Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician for its Medical-Surgical and Telemetry floors. The department includes 34-bed floors and cares for a diverse patient population requiring acute medical care and cardiac monitoring. PCT staffing is generally two to three technicians per floor, with a third technician added when census exceeds 24 patients. The typical patient-to-technician ratio is approximately 8–12 patients per technician. The PCT works collaboratively with nursing staff in a fast-paced acute-care environment to provide patient-centered care. The position serves patients from neonates through older adults and may involve access to demographic, clinical, insurance, financial, and complete medical-record information. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present. The schedule is a day shift consisting of three 12-hour shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorial Medical Center is a 199-bed acute hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and part of Lifepoint Health. Requirements

High school diploma.
SRNA or EMT license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

Handle with Care certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake and output recording.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, and ambulation.
Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
Manage the tech desk and support nursing and physician staff and overall department throughput.
Document care and activities according to unit standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Participate in performance improvement and required education.
