About The Position

Raleigh General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide patient care on a medical-surgical unit. The role is full time and works a day shift consisting of three 12-hour shifts, with a rotating weekend. The PCT works alongside nursing staff and contributes to safe, compassionate care and department operations. Basic patient care is performed as delegated by an RN, with care and activities documented according to unit standards. The role also includes participating in performance improvement and required education, along with other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurately recording intake and output.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, and ambulation.
• Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manage the tech desk and support nursing and physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Document care and activities according to unit standards.
• Participate in performance improvement and required education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
