About The Position

Raleigh General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support patient care on a medical-surgical unit. Working alongside nursing and physician staff, the technician provides basic patient care delegated by an RN, helps patients with daily activities, observes and reports changes in condition, and supports a clean, safe, well-stocked care environment. The role also includes maintaining documentation, assisting with department throughput, and participating in performance improvement and required education. The schedule is full-time, night shift, three 12-hour shifts with a rotating weekend.

Requirements

• High school degree preferred.
• Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake and output recording.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, and ambulation.
• Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manage the tech desk and support nursing and physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Document care and activities according to unit standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Participate in performance improvement and required education.
