About The Position

The Patient Care Tech works under the direction of a licensed nurse to help meet patients’ physical and psychosocial needs in a professional and timely manner. The role performs tasks as designated by competency documentation and provides direct care involving limited invasive procedures. It is an advancement opportunity for a Nurse Aide and follows delegable tasks approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Requirements

• Reading and numerical competency.
• Ability to provide basic caregiving skills to patients.
• Effective communication and time management skills.
• Ability to follow procedural standards safely without direct supervision.
• Ability to demonstrate basic caregiving skills and essential job functions.
• Must complete BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider and required Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Healthcare Provider courses before working in a clinical setting; courses are provided during new-hire orientation or upon transfer.
• Must successfully complete “Handle with Care” within six months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience performing as a nursing assistant in the healthcare profession is preferred.
• Completion of a CNA or Medical Assistant course, two years of nursing school, or other recent comparable education and job experience is recommended.
