About The Position

The Patient Care Tech supports patients in the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation department at Ascension Rehabilitation Hospital in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. This part-time night-shift role assists patients with movement, placement, personal care, and activities of daily living. The technician reports and documents changes in patients’ physical, mental, or emotional conditions and helps maintain clean, orderly patient rooms and medical equipment. The schedule is 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• One or more of the following credentials is required before hire or job transfer: Emergency Medical Tech credential from the Illinois Board of Division of Emergency Medical Services and Highway Safety (Intermediate or Advanced also accepted); Practical/Vocational Nurse credential from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation; or Nurse Aide credential from the Illinois Department of Public Health. A nursing student who has completed one semester of medical-surgical nursing is also acceptable.
• High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Aid with movement and placement of patients.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Document necessary records.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly and maintain medical equipment.
