Patient Mobility Tech - inpatient Rehab
About The Position
Saint Francis Hospital is seeking a Patient Mobility Technician to join its Acute Care Inpatient Rehab Team. The Patient Mobility Technician helps enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction by engaging respectfully and supportively with patients and their families, and motivating patients toward personalized ambulation goals. The role involves guiding patients in ambulation, tracking and documenting the distance and frequency of their daily walks, identifying obstacles to safe ambulation, and communicating patient observations and requests to the care team. The technician adjusts walking schedules as needed to engage as many patients as possible in daily walks. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a Monday-through-Friday day schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No weekends are required. The stated pay range is $17.00–$21.80 per hour, depending on experience, skills, education, and location.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to stay organized and prioritize effectively.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use a computer and mouse.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to collaborate with the healthcare team.
Nice To Haves
- Prior healthcare or patient service experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Guide patients in ambulation activities.
- Track and document the distance and frequency of each patient's daily walks.
- Identify and address obstacles to safe ambulation.
- Help patients express concerns or requests and communicate these observations and requests effectively to the care team.
- Adjust walking schedules flexibly to maximize the number of patients engaged in daily walks.
