About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) works in the Inpatient Rehab Unit at Atrium Medical Center, collaborating with nurses and doctors to provide personalized patient care. The role includes checking vital signs, helping patients move, dress, and eat, collecting samples such as urine, and reporting changes in patients’ conditions to a nurse. Common duties include assisting with walks and activities of daily living (ADLs), weighing patients, and taking vital signs. The PCT works under a nurse’s supervision to ensure tasks are performed safely and correctly. The position may also be referred to as Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC), with paperwork and other unit-support tasks helping the hospital run smoothly.

This is a full-time day-shift position, scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., for 36 hours per week and 72 hours per pay period.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Obtain a BLS CPR certificate before starting; CPR training may also be provided during orientation.
• No previous job experience is required, but applicants must meet one of these qualifications: completed STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training; helped care for patients within the past five years; or be in nursing school and have completed one clinical rotation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions while remaining courteous.
• Computer skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Strong communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities
