About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT), also referred to as a PCT, C.N.A., or M.A. (Medical Assistant), works in the 4 East Inpatient Rehab department at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. Under the direction of a registered nurse, the PCT provides direct patient care while considering patients’ age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The role helps establish and maintain a clean, safe environment that supports patient and family wellbeing and relationship-based care. The inpatient rehabilitation unit provides a coordinated conditioning program for patients recovering from traumatic brain injury, stroke, orthopedic surgery, and spinal cord trauma. Training is provided to prepare colleagues for success. Available shifts are 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m. The position is part-time, with every-other-weekend and holiday work required for team members.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of previous direct care experience in acute or long-term care, or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, and ambulation using assistive devices.
Assist patients with feeding and menu selection.
Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures.
Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
Help maintain a clean, safe patient care environment that supports patient and family wellbeing.
