About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) works with nurses and doctors to care for patients in the Medical Inpatient Unit at Miami Valley Hospital. Under a nurse’s supervision, the PCT helps ensure care is provided safely and correctly. Duties include checking patients’ temperature, heartbeat, and breathing; helping with mobility, dressing, eating, hygiene, and walks; collecting samples such as urine; weighing patients; and reporting changes in a patient’s condition to a nurse. The role may also include Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk duties, such as paperwork and other tasks that help the hospital run smoothly and support patient care.

The position is scheduled for 36 hours per week and 72 hours per pay period, with a shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS CPR certificate; CPR training may be provided at orientation if the candidate does not already have the certificate.
• No previous job experience is required, but candidates should meet at least one of the following: completed STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training; helped care for patients within the past five years; or currently attend nursing school and have completed one clinical rotation.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and interruptions while remaining courteous.
• Computer skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Effective communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities
