About The Position

Visiting Angels’ Athens office is seeking compassionate Patient Care Assistants to support senior adults and others in need throughout Athens and surrounding communities. The role provides companionship and practical assistance to clients, helping them remain safe and supported at home and in the community. Duties range from meal preparation and light housekeeping to personal care, mobility assistance, and transportation to appointments or other activities. Caregivers may also have opportunities for advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care.

Requirements

Passion for serving others and being a caregiver.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate approach.
Good time management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home or outside, including attending doctor’s appointments and walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Do clients’ shopping or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
