About The Position

Visiting Angels Abilene is seeking compassionate Patient Care Assistants to support senior adults and others in need in Abilene and the surrounding Big Country area, including Buffalo Gap, Tuscola, and Hawley. The role provides companionship and a range of in-home assistance, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, mobility support, and transportation. Caregivers may also pursue advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care. Part-time, PRN, and short-shift options are listed, along with 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

A passion for serving others and a genuine caregiver attitude.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate manner.
Good time-management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Strong background in home care or elderly care.
History of community involvement.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside, including doctor’s appointments and walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Do clients’ shopping or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
