About The Position
As a Patient Care Assistant, you help patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with basic daily living activities. You directly support patients with personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, and assist nursing staff with vital-sign monitoring and patient-room preparation. Success in this role requires a genuine desire to help patients, diligence in completing tasks, attentiveness to changes in patients’ conditions, and receptiveness to coaching. The position is in the Gastro Med Surg department at Saint Joseph Hospital.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or SRNA.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
- Assist with patients’ personal hygiene and physical care needs.
- Monitor and record vital signs.
- Accurately measure, record, and report intake and output.
- Obtain and record daily weight.
- Perform blood glucose testing using a blood glucose meter.
- Promptly report changes in a patient’s status to an RN.
- Serve as a patient care companion when needed.
- Assist patients with daily activities such as mobility and feeding.
- Prepare patient rooms.
