About The Position
The Patient Care Assistant provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff, helping patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with basic daily activities. Duties include supporting personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding; monitoring vital signs; and preparing patient rooms. The role requires diligence, observation of changes in patients’ conditions, and receptiveness to coaching.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or SRNA.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification upon hire.
- One year of direct patient care experience upon hire; the posting also lists '1-3 years.'
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
- Monitor and record vital signs.
- Assist with personal hygiene and physical care needs.
- Measure, record, and report intake and output accurately.
- Obtain and record daily weight.
- Perform blood glucose testing using a blood glucose meter.
- Promptly report changes in a patient's status to an RN.
- Serve as a patient care companion when needed.
